The European Patent Office (EPO), in line with its usual revision made every two years, has decided to increase the official fees for European Patent applications, as of 1 April 2026.

Although the increase is generally fairly limited, it may be advantageous to pay any fees until 31 March 2026, at the current lower fee.

For example, it is possible to settle the renewal fees for European Patent applications up to 3 months prior to their due date. Thus, those with renewal due dates in April, May or June 2026 can be paid at the current lower tariff.
